The club was formed in the summer of 1988 with three members from Norton Archery Club (Richard Rigby, Steve Allt and Ian Methven). The outdoor shooting started at Leek Hockey Club, Macclesfield Road, Leek and has stayed there since. The indoor shooting was at Milward Hall Youth and Community Centre at Salisbury Street, Leek. The club had to move to Leek High School, Springfield Road, Leek when renovations at the youth club made archery impossible.
Beginners courses have been held in the summer months since the club was formed. See the "Courses" section for more information. The club also supported the Rural Sports evening, run by the council, where local villages were given the opportunity to try archery along with other activities. The Rural Sports Evening has now been abandoned.
In 2004 the club organised the Richard Court competition for the Staffordshire Archery Association.
Leek High School has a new sports hall, so the new indoor facilities have been in use since November 2004 and are proving to be much more spacious.
Club Membership Fees
Summer Shooting (April to August)
During the summer we shoot at the ground of "Leek Hockey Club" on Macclesfield Road, Leek, Staffordshire. We meet twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The club has two teams in a postal league. For this, we shoot a short metric round once a month. In addition to the postal league competition, we shoot a non-short metric round for a "club" competition each month.
Winter Shooting (September to April)
In winter, we currently shoot at "Leek High School", Springfield Road, Leek. We meet once a week, on Wednesdays.
Again, we take part in a postal league once a month. For the league, we shoot a Portsmouth round, again, once a month. As in summer, we also have a club competition each month with varying rounds.
